Wally 'n Fluffy
Dear folks, I'm officially introducing a two proteges named as Wally "the walrus" and Fluffy "the penguin". Well, to be frank for anything to come into life we need a spark, a motivation, but to be true every single ingredient for creativity lies around us, inside us and beyond us. All you have to do is just imagine that they are there, and there they are!! Do lemme know your P.O.Vs .....
regards.

A little thought on alertness!!
And once again the terrorism has struck in the same city, the third time in the last 5 years. Mumbai bomb blast !! at 3 separate locations, taking scores of life. The entire country had a bigger jolt leaving the minds with much more frustration, anger, agony, pain.....and many more unnamed feelings!! This night I updated my Facebook status in the form of a question , quote " should;nt WE, the people understand, imbibe and be alert on terrorism and related activities , in every step/walk of life, rather than saying "We are strong"??? , unquote.
This might sound (nevertheless a blunt question) a little funny, isn't it?? And I believe, in the same context, it is not funny!! The report says that the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was used , with special mention to Ammonium Nitrate triggered by Mobile phone/alarms to activate the three bombs. A seamless execution, I'd say. But the question , in regard to my above query, is that ....."Did it happen all of a sudden??" .......planting an IED of about 80 kilograms , went un-noticed??? no way...I'd say "You are shitting me...!!"
Now , immediately after the unfortunate event, every citizen were frustrated, angered and the fingers were pointed at our beloved neighbours, who nurture and look after all the radical folks to create some really big scratches to keep us on our toes. To be simple to say, We can't help it!! ( I'd like to argue on it!!)
Refer to my para 2, about the shitty stuff!! Do you mean to say that none noticed the planting of a bomb there?? Now I want the reader to carefully analyze, or rather zoom on to this particular context. Instead of showing your anger or rather mud slinging, just think, if you were one among the many who walked past the same lane a few days ago, or a few hours, or a few minutes. No matter your mind is occupied about your family, or job or even listening to the music to the buds which you carefully inserted into your ears......you noticed something abnormal, a thing, a cover, a bag....and still you walked away!! the next moment you come to know that there was an explosion! Ah...now you trace back your memory and remembered that bag which was lying there unattended!! If you were to inform somebody about this , would'nt that mishap be averted??
Very much, so now the ball is in your court. You tend to hear the politicians pointing the finger about immigrants, failure in policies, wrong infrastructure including the resolution of the street cameras, lack of coordination in the intelligence community......an so on and so forth!! My dear fellow citizens, the first step of responsibility lies with YOU!! not with any party or police or taxi wallahs.....its YOU......educate yourself about the responsibilities first, your family, your friends....discuss among yourselves...not to start mud slinging and other shitty jobs.... Think about it.....I'd appreciate a amplifying arguments, for or against...wateva.....!
My deepest condolences goes to those who missed their dear and near ones, and to many more who had to suffer much more. Keep your mind alive.....think ...think....think

Chasing the Monsoons...!!
On Saturday the 11th of June 2011 I updated my facebook status speaking of a small get together with lots of food n wine with my group. Perhaps the Old Monk's philosophy, the Shark tooth's aggression and Kingfisher's hoverings gave me a smoothy kick which made my sleep a blank one. I did'nt see any dream, and possibly I did'nt twist or turn in my bed since I found myself in the same precise position I fell on bed the last night.
The monsoons just got kick-started and the rains are lovely and as usual unpredictable. I had already planned for a long bike ride to the nearby city of Karwar, which happened to be my second home for a long time since I joined service. But early morning when my alarm scrambled my frequencies the first question shot through my mind was "should I sleep here or start moving?". Laziness do take precedence over my actions ( I think its the same for many!), but not this Sunday morning. I could hear the rain blasting off the roof sheets reminding of a hard-core metal band's performance. So, the 'Rules-of-Engagement' in the morning were clearly followed, that to engage your body for an action you need to snooze your alarm for another 30 minutes.
So by around 7 o'clock I got ready, with the most humble looking wear, which could clearly merge into the crowd rather than stand out. Grabbed my raincoat, revved my bike and started. It was still raining, but did'nt care to stop and had no plans to stop either. I had a few motives behind this trip, the first one is to visit a temple at Karwar, then meet my buddies , deliver a painting to my senior at his home (surprise), meet an old ship-mate's baby and kiss his feet, get a carton of cigs and above all photography of the Eucalyptus forest in the NH-17 between Madgaon and Canacona.
From the beginning I was doubtful about clicking , as the rain was not at all in a mood to stop. I am confident with my bike and clear about my navigation, the only fear factor was the worn out rear tyre. So the thought of the rear tyre ( or a possible worst cast scenario) was enough to shake my nervous highway to full action. So the mandate for the journey was set -"ride slow, safe and patience".
After crossing the first set of hills, south of madgaon, which stood with a miniature majestic look with rain clouds brushing off (reminded my kitty rubbing against me with her tail!) and refusing to move off was a lovely scene. Since one has to freedom to talk anything -inside the helmet- I shot the words "Oh yeahhhh!!" . I dont know why, but (I'm making it a point that) I guess the monsoon season is something which creats a "suicidal tendency" to those simple creatures; since I came across at least a couple of dogs, cats, frogs and snakes--charred on the road. " Poor things...R.I.P" was a soliloquy for them.
The rains are still on, and due to some 'technical' problem my rain coat was leaking. I never came to know till I found that my lower part has gone partially numb, since the seepage has soaked my lowers and yes my inners. A mere feeling when you press the "pause" button, but your surroundings are moving at a good speed and not you! I crossed the Eucaluptus forest, but could'nt take out my camera due to heavy downpour. The best I could do was to slow down a bit and enjoy the view, and wished the rains stopped for a few minutes. The scene was awesome....the mist is still floating, the sunlight filtered by the clouds, gave an excellent leap in space. The semi naked barks of the trees were making an impression like some kids wearing t-shirts with fluorescent writings.
One good thing I noticed through out the ride was, a serene sense of freedom as there were very less vehicles I encountered. Over-riding the numbness down below(!!) and the occasional shivers and sharp chills I kept moving forward. I reached Karwar by around 9, had a humble breakfast of 2-feet paper roast and large strong coffee from my favourite restaurant.
By around 4 I completed my check off list and headed back, this time I had a company of two of my sweeties, Muthu and Mithun. They'd been my company, and partners in crime for the last two years and escorted me upto Canacona as they'd plans for Palolem. So my photo sessions were on the return leg and yes I joined them at Palolem. I had to break my vow of carrying out a "Detox-Sunday" and mugged some fried fish, beer and some smoke! Nevertheless...its for my henchmen...so ..anything for them. Started my journey back, reached Vasco by around 9, freshened up and back to bed. The mere thought that flashed through my mind before I called it a day, was travelling, it might be a short one ; is not about sight seeing...... it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living. ....... Amen!

Octopus adventures ......
Once upon a time there lived an Octopus, with his long tentacles, and a soft mushy body, small 'serious' eyes. He ruled around his area, caught his preys, camouflaged ,with his adaptable body, from his enemies .....untill the day he swam across a group of snorkelers and eventually ended up in a dinner plate the same evening as Octopus curry ! Damn right, this is the latest blog which happened on the last day of the last decade in a beautiful archipelago of Maldives.
And once again, in the last year i had the opportunity to visit the southern hemisphere (crossing the equator the 5th time) and visit Maldives (for the third time). There has been remarkable changes in that country since the last visit 5years back. Lot of chinese cuisines, new sign boards for the same shops, and the opposite sexes becoming more gutsy and started wearing more tight outfits which, obviously augmented the 'auxiliary fittings' ( eh...I didn't say that!).
And on the last day of the year we , a group of 9 men went for snorkeling in the nearby reef. The snorkeling sets, fins and warnings on "currents" in the area was given free ! We took the first two and disregarded the last one. For me, the last one had a tremendous effect in the form of a creeping fear and it stayed throughout, i guess i shouldn't reiterate on the 'last one' which i mentioned is the "warning" !
Wearing all those fitting and there goes into the water. Once in water, while snorkeling, the few things one will experience is a clear and pure sound of one's heart beat, the sound of the breath you take followed by the mechanical creaking voice of your joints in your body due to movement . One thing about the breath is that , you can actually feel which all parts of your lungs are getting inflated and deflated( that was too technical, I agree).
And the snorkeling went smooth, and the currents taking us to a distance, watching all those beautiful corals, and other creatures (barring sharks, whales and whatnot !) including different fishes, squids and crabs little ones with small claws ( thank god! u know why :-) . For a brief moment, we were all part of the faculty of creations at sea.
I was feeling comfortable watching these, till a spectacular scene which took the wind out of me ( i mean scared me ! yeah you heard it) The deep blue colour of water slowly and steadily fading into void, the indication that "dude, you're out of the reef and is facing the deep waters". That's it; i boarded the boat as soon as I could.
By the time our character of the month, Octopus was caught by our safety diver Ismail and everybody was having a photo session with it. It was brought onboard and i was told that it's a famous delicacy in the islands. After snorkeling we landed the beach nearby and started cleaning up the poor soul with sand, under the supervision of Ismail and Rajiv , the other diver. It was cleaned up, packed and ready to be cooked format and was taken to our ship , which is at anchorage.
The night was for ringing out the previous year and ringing in the new one, the octopus became a wonderful curry in the plate and we celebrated our New Year. I'm sure if I happen to go there once again, i wont find any octopus since a 'statutory warning' might have been issued by the Octopus Association of that reef to be careful about the snorkelers ! Thaz all folks !
